You do realize the cable is included in the box and that people with any common sense won’t upgrade just for the port?Of course there won't be any new features.
Apple likes to bleed its customers dry, first to buy the new version with solely a different charging port - and then introduce a new product to catch them again.
Same, knew this was coming last year so waited it out.
I’ll wait until November though for the Black Friday gift card.
You have no idea what you talking about, best thing which could Happen for environment and users.thanks EU for this environmental disaster. could have kept using billions of perfectly functioning lightning cables but nope.
it's clear EU has no idea what they're doing. look at the annoying cookie popups for further proof. anyone who thinks otherwise are in absolute denial.
Well, I agree with you regarding FaceID, but many people think that FaceID is a step backward. And for them, they can either decide to buy a high end iPhone and live with FaceID, or stick with an iPhone SE.
It’s people who discard their case with lightning for USB-C that hate the environment. Businesses do what businesses do. Make more money. Now, will they release a standalone case for people who don’t want to replace their AirPods altogether? Or does Apple hate the environment??
Reminds me of when they changed the iPhone 12 cable from USB-A to USB-C in 2020, while keeping the USB-A cable with the Apple Watch Series 6. Sometimes those teams don’t seem to talk to each other.Shame they didn't move AirPods Pro 2nd gen to USB-C last year, considering the USB-C Apple TV remote was unveiled at the exact same event
Many people use wireless charging. For them, they might not need at all to buy a new cable. For people who want wired charging, they can take any USB-C cable (from their PlayStation controller, their iPad, their Mac, etc.). I'm sure that in 2023, many tech enthusiasts already have at least one USB-C cable. So I don't think it's nearly as close to an environmental disaster as you pretend.USB-C switch on AirPods is an environmental disaster for nearly zero benefits.

I'm not so sure. People might need the port when on the go (e.g. you're in a plane and you want to give a boost to your AirPods. Apple also needs the port for diagnostic purposes, to see if there is anything wrong with the earbuds hardwarePretty sure Apple has data on how people charge their AirPods. If the majority did charge via wireless, they would have eliminated the port.
In 2023, many enthusiasts have a surplus of Lightning cables.
Those billions of perfectly functioning Lightning cables can keep charging the billion perfectly functioning Lightning devices that also still exist.environmental disaster. could have kept using billions of perfectly functioning lightning cables but nope.

I thought the case, and right and left AirPods were each available for individual purchase. Did something change?Wish we could just buy the case
Wish we could just buy the case
Eh. I wirelessly charge all of my AirPods anyway.
Many enthusiasts had a surplus of 3.5mm headphones/earbuds. All those went to ewaste after the EU forced Apple to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from all their iDevices.many enthusiasts have a surplus of Lightning cables that's going to ewaste. It is quite an environmental disaster.
