I want the iPod classic back I just want a music app where I can simply search through MY music and listen to my music. I don't want to share what I'm listening to with anyone or "follow" the artist, just find what I want and listen to it. It looks like the iOS Music app is not going to be the means for doing this anymore Time to start looking for a different app or device for music.

I feel like after that one time when he was rumored to be leaving to spend time with his family and then Apple like re-contracted him and promoted him (around iOS 7/8 maybe?) was too much. It's like both hardware and software started suffering because although I do love my 6+ the grip factor and overall finish still didn't seem fully Apple-esque.

But I'm holding out for the best with these next releases.

To tell the truth only developers get to use the new app and they are pleased with it somewhat. The video here the user did not have Apple Music subscription so it was useless at best.

Who knows how it will be when it goes public just hope there is a dark theme.

Oh yeah I'd like to see it with an active subscription but I thought the OP asked for what it looked like without one.

Jesus Christ. What's up with all the hate and bashing?

This looks pretty amazing, their pretty much addressing all that's wrong with the current UX. I do not fancy the font myself, but everything else looks like a huge improvement.

I've been using Apple Music on my iPad mini, on my car's dashboard, for months. It's been a convoluted mess to navigate. This new version, utilized in this manner, is improved by leaps and bounds. It's much simpler to navigate, and I prefer the new font as well.

What is "amazing" about it?

Having now also installed Sierra, what is interesting is that Apple Music actually looks much improved on the Mac.

Previously, it looked pretty poor on the Mac largely because so much of it wasn't making use of the all the screen - it was like they just rushed out the Mac version based on the iOS version with lots of narrow centred stuff with all that white space not doing anything.

Now it looks like the opposite - AM looks much improved on the Mac, with full screen scrollable rows of content, much more in the style of the iTunes Store, making the For You and Browse sections look a lot better. The big bold heading won't be to everyone's liking, but on a 27" iMac I think they get away with it.

So at the moment it looks like they've started by fixing th Mac version, and have reverse engineered it for iOS. Trouble is, screen estate is limited on the phone, so the big bold headings and text aren't just subjectively bad in some people's view - I think they are objectiv my bad because they impact on the amount of information presented in a small space.

Hopefully between now and September this will be blindingly obvious to them, and they can tweak the iOS version over future betas.

yeah Ill wait to try it in the fall, but Amazon, of which I'm already a user is supposed to be launching their own streaming service , and their app is already better so I'm going to see what they come up with too

I keep reading larger artwork, but the artwork on iOS 9 was the full width of the screen. How can it get any bigger? Looks like they have made it smaller to appear to be on a "card" that you can pull down to access the rest of your library. I'm very leary of this. Music is always my most used app, so to see them mess with it is upsetting to me.

Any shots of what it looks like on an iPad? Pro 12.9? Off to google...

Same! Artwork is a big deal and I thought it looked smaller too with this new card effect. Hopefully it changes in betas and stays at least the size it is now. Scale down some of the text and maybe it could fit

Except Amazon streaming music sound quality sucks. 320k is the minimum for MP3 not 256k MP3 which they use and sounds bad. 192k is the minimum for AAC.

I thought the same thing about the artwork - as you say it was full width, and looked fine. Now here they are talking about, IIRC, "bringing the artwork to the fore". The card effect made me think of 3D Touch, is maybe a tap to bring up the card, and a deep press to pop it open like it was before. Probably not, and I have an SE, so no 3D Touch.

The screenshot below shows how hopeless the artist name and title top right is, and how little functionality there is in the mini player at the bottom. As I said before, maybe they'll change it, but seems very odd to take it all out only to add it again. I mean, presumably this isn't quite like starting from scratch like they did with something like FCPX.

Here's a few screenshots from my iPad in landscape. As you can see, there's full functionality when the mini player is pulled up. It's all rather seamless.

Why is everything so.......BIG??? Do you have your system font turned up or is it really that large now??

Nope that's a fresh install, no system fonts messed with, that is the default sizes. Some people have said if you play with the accessibility font size, going higher makes this text smaller.

How about the perfomance?

Performance is fine, no real issues on my 5S.

Anybody have a screenshot of what app looks like if you're not subscribed to Apple Music?

My screenshots were unsubscribed, is there something more specific you're looking for?
