Indeed. Chinese customers won't use Telegram, X, WhatsApp, Google, Amazon, Copilot, Preplexity, Discord. They have their own WeChat, Weibo, Taobao, DeepSeek, Baidu. Even if Chinese Internet is entirely seperated from global Internet, they can have a good life with Huawei ecosystem.

Why is Apple bending over for Chinese market. The domestic brands have taken over, Apple will never regain the marketshare they had.

Just ditch it and the special hoops they have to jump thru.

Because China is now the 2nd largest economy and in time will be #1. You do not abandon the biggest market on Earth.

Obviously these Chinese phones that are outselling the Apple iPhone are not cheaper because they are made in China. iPhones are also made in China, maybe in a building next door. The problem is that Apple just does not "get" the Chinese market. Apple is not selling what people there want to buy. What they need to do is open up an engineering and design center in China and hire Chinese engineers and designers.

Yes India now has more people than China, but China is a bit richer.

What we are seeing is a flattening of the economic differences around the world. In China, in 2025, factory workers make about $6.50 per hour. This is not much different from the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour that applies in many "red" states.

There are "only" about 340 million people in the US, but there are 1,400 million in China. The dream for Apple is to sell four times more phones in China than in the US. Apple would be dumb to abandon a market that large

Apple can expose an API that allows 3rd third-party cloud-based AI providers to plug in their solutions into the system. Be it Open AI or Alibaba, or Mistral. Hence, Apple's hands are clean.
