Me too, but unfortunately, if past history is any indication, they won't release an unlocked phone until November. Probably at the insistence of the phone carriers.
Keep in mind that in the U.S. the iPhone 4S came out on October 14th, 2011 on contract and the unlocked, contract-free version came out on November 11th with shipping estimates at 1-2 weeks. That's just shy of a month, so a September 21st release date could see unlocked iPhones being released in mid- or late October.

ATT thinks people are going to re-up for another two years with them?

Given how many people will likely drop At&T due to its crappiness I don't think the "surge" of customers will be a problem for their customer service.
Amen brother....I mean Prother;)

iMacs, Mac minis?!

Machine so slow... So tired...

Anyway I'll be keeping my iPhone 4 until A15 based CPU with PowerVR Series6 Rogue GPUs.

I can't wait for it to be announced and the specifications released. I'll know whether to mark it off my list or not when it comes time to buying another phone.

Ummm... The numbers don't reflect your feelings.

Additionally, I just looked at VZW's plans and they are a little odd now. They have addressed the family data plan but left out single line plans. For myself, it's about $20 more before tax to have a plan with them. Since I have no issues with AT&T I'm gonna stay with them yet again when I have the ability at any point to break contract.

Why would ANYONE buy their iPhone from ATT when you can go to an Apple store with NO pushy sales people trying to upsale you with $40 accessories made from 10 cents worth of plastic.

So going to an Apple store to buy $40 accessories made from 10 cents worth of plastic is OK?

If the issue you're having is with pushy salespeople, grow a pair and push back.

iPhone and Straightalk

I hope Straighttalk will support the new iPhone right out of the gate as I really like the idea of buying the iPhone outright and paying $45/month rather than $80 with AT&T. I'd look at Verizon, but there's no LTE coverage where I live.

it probably will. You just won't have LTE (or anytime soon either. Can't see Verizon allotting LTE to Straight Talk in the near future).

Not to worry, it will be another disaster as always. Their servers will crash, etc.

If this thing launches in September rather than October, I'll be the happiest guy in the world.

AT&T will unlock an iPhone purchased at 'no commitment' price, right?
Hmm, don't know. Haven't heard that they'd do this. Anyone know?

Can't wait to jump to Verizon in SFO. ATT is teh suck. But my favorite part of new iphone launches is the people who just got a phone during the last refresh who don't understand that they don't get a $199 subsidized upgrade after 12 months. (In this case its going to be 11 months)

Actually the primary account holders have ALWAYS been able to get the upgrade price after just one year
So they will have to wait till October

Never personally cared though, totally worth it spending the extra 200 to continue my early tradition of getting newest iPhone first day.

Well for people who live in areas where AT&T and verizon both have lte
And those who have had AT&T for years it really doesnt matter. What you gotta consider is when you leave the lte area verizon 3G sucks a lot more then AT&Ts
Plus the new plans are better on AT&T anyways.
So yeah... I'll stick with them for another 2 years

And Sprint will not be charging for FaceTime.

Haha let's keep the argueing between AT&T and Verizon
Sprint has no room to talk when it comes to any kind of service... Especialy lte

In the past, those who preorder receive it on launch day.

This is true if you buy from Apple.

I buy from AT&T, last year & the year before my new iPhones arrived the day _before_ launch day. So did the others for the guys at work that ordered when I did. It pays to stay up late so the moment they're listed on the site, you can beat the rush. It only takes me about ten minutes to complete an order.

Also I get the confirmation very quickly, yet I've read where others didn't get theirs till the next day or later. As good as the Apple Store is, when it comes to iPhones I've always had the best service from AT&T as well as never having activation issues as some users do.

Mine arrives via FedEx by 10:00 am, I unpack it, dial the automated activation number & I'm all set. No swapping sims, no delays, just excellent service.
