Haters going to hate, Apple TVs content is similar in quality to HBO namely Silo, Invasion, Severance, and Dope Thief. Netflix has been trash lately so I dropped down to only HBO and AppleTV.

I guess if you are only into the shows maybe ... All I ever watch on MAX (HBO) is the movies 🤷‍♂️

I'm not in the target demo anyhow though, as I watch almost no TV content anymore... and if I need something to throw on I have my Plex library and/or am happy to use PlutoTV for it.

Just flipped on Top Gun for 30 mins on Pluto last night actually.

They are seeing what they wish was true, not what's actually true.

They are almost no real parallels between what the two products are, what they are supplanting, the mainstream interest in using them.. on and on down the line.
Totally agree, that is a more succinctly put statement of what I had tried to say back then. The iPhone was a big leap forward in an established market, merging computing into a phone. The AVP requiring something to be strapped to you face is more akin to 3DTV, and we all know how that turned out.

I sort of agree. I think Apple will have to cut bloat and exit businesses that aren't profitable.

Going into the streaming war was a mistake. No way they thought they could compete against Netflix.

One of the main issues was they wanted to create original content and not buy the rights to many of the classic TV shows and movies like Netflix and Amazon.

The TV content they have created is IMHO really really good stuff like Foundation, Silo, Ted Lasso, Severance, Tehran etc etc.

It’s the movies which aren’t quite as good.

Seems like a new trend because I just got Paramount Plus w/ Showtime (AD-free) for $2.99 for two months and Starz (AD-free) for $1.99 for three months.

I would be tempted but I got 6-months free of Apple + through T-mobile.

I love these deals because it allows me to catch up on all my shows without breaking the bank then I cancel them. Then wait for next deal to come along.

Apple is offering a limited-time promotion for its streaming service, giving new and eligible returning subscribers access to Apple TV+ for just $2.99 per month for three months.

The deal runs until April 24, 2025, and offers a decent discount from the regular $9.99 monthly subscription price, saving viewers $21 over the promotional period.

The offer comes as Apple TV+ has been boosted in popularity with hit shows like "Severance," which recently surpassed "Ted Lasso" as the platform's most-watched series. Seth Rogen's "The Studio" has also been receiving positive reviews from critics and viewers.

The streaming service also includes sports content with "Friday Night Baseball" and select Major League Soccer matches from MLS Season Pass.

After the three-month promotional period ends, subscriptions will automatically renew at the standard $9.99 monthly rate unless canceled. The deal excludes Apple device customers who are already eligible for a free three-month trial and subscribers who get Apple TV+ through third-party providers or mobile wireless carriers.

Interested readers can check their eligibility through the Apple TV+ website or via the Apple TV app.

Still expensive for the limited content it offers.

Yes, and how's that strategy working out for them?

Worked in Denmark for returning subscriber too, at 19,- a month, so pretty darn good deal. The offer didn't work yesterday, but did today.

Good offer. Might be a good time to subscribe and catch up on some of the very good shows available on TV+

Just cancelled my Apple TV+, but it runs to 12th May.
So I can’t renew it for a cheaper price - it’s the same SEK 99:- / ~$9-10
Too bad, but I might renew it anyway, or take 1 or 2 months break.
