I enjoyed the first two seasons and in particular thought the special COVID episode was excellent. But season 3 was quite bad and haven't even bothered with Season 4. Guess I won't. Not suprised to see this get canned.
I agree. 1 and 2 flowed. 3 was a departure. I binged season 4, half way through the second episode I could tell it was going to be a struggle staying engaged.

Side quest - no interest

Ah man, I loved this show. First two seasons were excellent. But it did feel like they never expected to get this far and ran out of things to do with it. Curious how they'll switch-up from that cliff-hanger.

this was one of those things I tried to watch in the early days of Apple TV when there wasn't much and I didnt make it past the first couple episodes. the service has gotten so much better

This and Ted Lasso were the only things Apple ever did worth watching. If enough of us cancel AppleTV maybe Eddie Clueless can get his cancellation.
Both were good shows, but both dragged in the later seasons, so cancelling them was the right thing to do (so not looking forward to bringing Ted Lasso back). And they are not the only things worth watching. Slow Horses is the best thing on Apple TV+.

The series has it up sides, but in the main, every single character is unlikable, emotionally bankrupt, and many bordering on sociopathic. Apple TV series tend to be better than other streaming services by having shows that respect viewer's intelligence. But this show was too much like network TV with streaming's looser rules.

I don't watch much television anymore because hardly a thing is produced that even comes close to competent, and this slop is in the sweet spot of filler for humdrum lives driven to distraction by tiny, black scrying screens. Life is more engaging on the worst of days, and so it was for this show, as I was subjected to it on a bus trip recently. I guess I got spoiled by great movies and TV from an era when quality and artistic merit mattered and of which there are fleeting few examples these days.

As someone said before, the first two seasons were awesome. Season 3 was "meth", season 4, was really disappointing. Season 4 threw out the quirks of working in the gaming industry and it tried to develop the characters more, which just ended up awkward. I'm sure the writers had good intentions, but it didn't translate well.
Yes, the main reason is that the 4th season wasn't as uplifting as the past seasons. Seemly the series was going to end. it was bad

That is a shame. Maybe it's time to cancel Apple TV+ too.
Apple TV+ and it's business model makes no sense -- the content is too PC, since Apple won't produce anything that's too edgy or counter to their business (e.g. Jon Stewart's Apple TV+ show and China), and they interfere with writers and producers when they try anything they feel is too edgy.

What's next, Apple commissioning The Carpenters and The Osmonds to produce new songs for Apple Music?

It was a good premise and started out well. But I would find myself losing interest half way through episodes in season 3.

Budget cuts are understandable as Apple TV Plus+ is currently a business failure. I am saying currently because it may improve but with significant cost reduction and production of really good shows.

Stopped watching when they fired F Murray Abraham for some me-too infraction. His character was a solid part of the show and the politically correct nature of his firing was sickening.

Apple is canceling popular comedy series Mythic Quest after a four season run, with the show to wrap up after a re-released season 4 finale that's coming later this week.

mythic-quest-season-4.jpg

Mythic Quest starred Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, Danny Pudi, and David Hornsby, all of whom played characters that worked at the fictional Mythic Quest Studios creating, designing, and running a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. The show provided a satirical and humorous look at the inner workings of video game development.

Season four was not initially meant to be the show's final season, so the season four finale has been updated with a new ending that will provide Mythic Quest fans with closure. In a statement to Deadline, series producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby and Rob McElhenney said they wanted to be able to say goodbye.

Mythic Quest was one of the first shows that launched on Apple TV+, debuting in February 2020. There have been four seasons and two special episodes, including one that was filmed remotely on iPhones during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apple's decision to cancel Mythic Quest follows reports of Apple TV+ losses. Apple TV+ is losing as much as $1 billion per year as Apple works to lure subscribers and add more content to the streaming service.

Mythic Quest has spawned a spinoff show called Side Quest, a four episode miniseries that explores the lives of Mythic Quest employees and players. The final episode of season four aired on March 26 and ended with a cliffhanger. The re-edited final episode with a new ending will be available this week.

Let’s hope this is Apple refocusing their efforts on a few notable and more popular shows that need all the support they need at the moment. Most importantly, stop the huge spending and losses.

This and Ted Lasso were the only things Apple ever did worth watching. If enough of us cancel AppleTV maybe Eddie Clueless can get his cancellation.
They have a number of shows that have won awards and done very well with fans. Severance, Slow Horses, Silo, The Studio, For All Mankind, and numerous others.

If you don't like more than just two that is fine, but others might have different opinions.

Apple TV really is the best streaming service right now, but they still have a limited selection.

Sure sets an interesting precedence at least I have never heard of - re-releasing episodes due to changes.
Will be interesting to see if this will apply to other shows in the future, for example when certain jokes, political views etc, goes out of style.
