Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve been working on an app called Spencer, and it’s finally getting close to release. The main idea is simple: with one click, you can save the exact position of all your open windows across all spaces (virtual desktops), and later restore everything just the way it was.

I’d been looking for a tool like this for a long time, but nothing really worked the way I needed — especially when it came to saving window positions across multiple Spaces. So I decided to build it myself. You can also create multiple profiles with different numbers of Spaces and setups — for work, calls, creative sessions, etc.

Got any questions or ideas for improvements? I’d love to hear them 🙏

At this point, you have made a website that collects e-mail addresses without a Privacy policy.
Maybe offer an alpha version at least.

You are completely right! The Privacy Policy has already been added — thanks for pointing it out. As for the app, it will soon be available for sale, so I don’t think releasing an alpha version is necessary at this point.

Here’s a demo of the app in action — looking forward to your feedback and questions!

Hi! This is exactly what I'm looking for, as Stay is a kind of abandonware today.
When are you going to release it?

Great to hear you’re interested! I’m hoping to release it next month. Make sure to join the waitlist so you’ll be among the first to know - and to get a special launch offer!

Are you going to support separate configurations in multiple displays environments?

I might be misunderstanding your question, but it’s possible to set up different configurations for different display setups.

Sorry for being not so clear. :)
Yes, I meant if it will be possible to store windows configuration for different displays.

Ugh, for some reason I thought this app was already released... I think you're going to lose people on this by pre-announcing similar to Apple with Apple Intelligence.

I for one need something like this now, and thought what I had read here was that you're more in a Beta or Alpha mode. Therefore, I gotta try Stay, and if it works, frankly I'd probably stick with it.

Just some constructive feedback...

You might be right, but the most important thing is that the app works well and meets users’ expectations. Right now, it’s being tested by a group of people who have given me feedback on what needs to be changed and improved. Once that’s done, the app will be ready for release.

If Stage actually worked, I wouldn’t have built Spencer. :)

I am indeed looking forward to Spencer! Please provide it with keyboard shortcut capability, which is something I miss with the solution I'm using now, Screen Box.

FWIW, I'm a firm believer in paying for software, but for a utility like this, anything more than $15-$25-29, or something like $5-7-9 annual subscription, is just too much.

Spencer looks interesting, but it is not clear how it will compare to what is currently offered in Moom.
Does Moom let you save a layout of a bunch of windows? If so, I will need to look at it more closely.

Saving layouts is useful when you go between a laptop screen and an external display connected to the laptop.

Yes, it does.

I use it to auto switch everything up when I go from laptop screen to external 5K monitor. It recognizes the change and resizes and repositions everything.

I think it is bad marketing to come on here promoting your app, direct people to your website, and ask the members to blindly signup for an alleged special price that isn't made known ahead of time. I think you might have more interest if the pricing was made known. I like to support indie developers but, I won't do it blindly. Will this app be built around an ongoing subscription or will you offer a one time fee as an option?
