Reminder: New Apple Watch Pride Bands Available at Apple Stores Starting Today

Last week, Apple introduced two new Pride Edition Apple Watch bands. In addition to online orders through Apple.com, the new bands are also available to purchase at physical Apple Store locations starting today.

Priced at $99, the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop weaves together the original rainbow colors with those drawn from various Pride flags, according to Apple. For $49, the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop features a nylon weave with reflective rainbow yarn inspired by the Pride flag, which is designed to shimmer when light strikes it.

The first online orders of the new Pride bands are beginning to arrive to customers, including MacRumors reader Harry.

The Braided Solo Loop is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 4 or newer, while the Nike Sport Loop is compatible with the Series 3 or later.

The watchOS 7.5 software update released this week includes a new Pride Woven watch face that matches the design of the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop. With the rotation of the Digital Crown, the colorful threads on the watch face infinitely scroll and animate with a raise of the wrist. Apple has included an App Clip code on the band's packaging for easy access to the watch face with an iPhone running iOS 14.3 or later.

The braided look is super unique. I pick up a Pride band every year because they always come up with something interesting and fun. And Apple always makes the best-quality bands.

That’s why it has more colors.

Had wondered same. Assumed is it’s face as my Series 6 Red band fits my Series 0 Sport perfectly.

I can only imagine the execs sat in offices, crying, doubled up with laughter, with the knowledge that people will pay $/£99 for a braided strap that probably cost less than $1 to make.

I mean, they are nice, but again, laughably poor value.

Mine arrived today and it looks great, especially with the new faces . I have always been drawn to these bands each year as i love the mix of colours, but this is the first one I've gone for.

I was kinda floored. That's a lot for a 'stretchy band' IMO.

TANGENT: I've noticed that some people wear their wrist gadgets tight, and some wear them loose. For some reason, I'm in the later group. I HATE tight things on my wrist, but I'm not into floppy stuff either. It's got to be 'just right', (which makes eating very salty foods a hassle). The idea of a 'stretch band' does appeal to me, but if it's too stretchy, the band seems likely to stretch enough and fall off, so I'm in a quandary. But for $100, I'm safe from this band (or any of the other bands too apparently).

How much are the other stretch bands? (performing for my monkey today is, ME!) So they are ALL $100? Well, okay. I guess I didn't realize that would be a thing. Hmm... The price seems more than a little 'out there👽👽👽'...

I don't know, they are probably on a near 4500% markup, and remember, it is just a strap. I seriously doubt the majority of textiles are that marked up.

Made by a machine, cranking out likely hundreds (thousands?) an hour. I could see a high rate of defective ones coming out of the machine, but twice the price of the 'sport bands'? Wow... Must be HUGE defective rate...
