iPod Mini Pictures

One of my friends got one

He loves it and he is a die hard winsucks user...he got a blue one, I compared to my 15gig 3g and the size differnce is amazing. Now i have ipod envy I need to get one for myself...mmm how can I convince my wife I really, really need one more ipod:D
 
the mini is certainly a great product and I wish Apple tremendous success it will certainly enjoy. My daughter (8) wants one.

But after touching and feeling it, I prefer the smooth feel of its 3rd gen older sibling. Totally personal preference.
 
How anyone could've doubted the overwhelming success of the mini simply boggles my mind. I got mine the middle of last week and the thing completely rocks.

Well, that's simple. Tech oriented people who tend to follow apple are used to comparing specs (frequency, capacity, speed etc.) with price. With that background it is easy to see that "iPod mini is too expensive.

When the size and looks are taken into account it is no such thing, Apple could even have charged more for early adopters but they chose not to.
 
Too Late or No Problem?

I'm considering auctioning off my copy of "Steel Battalion" to pay for a mini-iPod for my wife for our anniversay on the 19th of March.

The question is: how's the pickings? Will I be utterly too late to get one for her in time, or does Apple still seem to have a pretty good supply left?

Color isn't important, but I'm pretty sure I'm *not* getting her pink. It's not her color.

Though I do wish they made black, just because that would be *cool*.
 
Very interesting pictures. There is the young lady's feet with her iPod, a cool cat listening to an iPod, and a Chinese statue listening to an iPod with his friend.

There is a man that is all set for the day. He has two iPods one for any occasion, newspaper, and a latte.
 
I got to hold an iPod Mini for the first time yesterday. I did the test I've been waiting to do - hold a business card up to it and see if the claims about its size are correct.

The answer: well, almost. The iPod Mini is just slightly longer than a business card. So I guess Apple can claim it is "business card size" if you aren't picky about precise accuracy.

P.S. I think blue looked the best.
 
Use for 4G Microdrive

What's interesting to me is that the storage element seems to be an off-the-shelf 4G Hitachi Microdrive.

The interesting thing about this, is that the best price I can find for the bare microdrive is over $500. The person from iPodding mentioned that they tried to put the microdrive into their CF reader and camera with no luck - but if someone figures out how to "unlock" it, there will be many many ipod minis cannibalized for the drive itself.
 
I stood in a very long line outside my local Apple store to buy two mini's when they went on sale at 6pm on Friday (2/20)... a silver one for me and a pink one for the GF (it *is* her color). She absolutely loves it! She had a 2nd gen iPod that she only had about 800 songs on, so the storage is not an issue. She absolutely loves the size and was literally jumping up and down when she took it out of the box. And you thought that size doesn't matter ;-)
 
Aluminum shell adds "needless" width

I notice that the aluminum shell is SOLID inside the rounded side-edges. Had Apple chosen to skip the rounded additions and make more of a simple "brick" shape, the same exact internals would have fit into an even narrower and lighter form factor!

I LIKE the rounded sides--I'm just amazed that the Mini inside is even narrower than I thought from the outside.

Besides, any smaller and there would have to be a warning for small children :)

I was about to comment on the same thing.... the cheapest I could find a 2gig drive was $280.
 
i got one...it is so sweet. but i am only getting six hours of battery life. other than that- i LOVE IT! I am a 2nd gen iPod owner (20 gig) and the size difference is dramatic. Colleagues are saying, "Wow. This is something Sony should have made". No Need- Apple is making it ;)

The thing about the alum shell, the thickness is probably for structural ridgity. the iPod has a very substantial, yet light feel. Fits well in your hand. The chicks dig it.

And Apple should have stated that the size matches Japanese Business Cards. A Sony Japan business card is very close to the dimensions. Off by a few mm's. But closer than standard Am. bus. cards.:p

I work at an apple retailer and the only ones we got in at all were silver (Isn't that lame) and to boot we only got ten! Apple stores have it so much better than us. At any rate we havent sold more than 5 so some retailers may still have some. Apple stores of course have plenty of silver and are being rushed direct shippments (as always) of all other colors this week. Good luck!
 
I love the look of the iPod minis. Now I just can't wait for the original iPods to look like this! The only thing better than an iPod mini is an iPod mini with a 40 GB HD in that small enclosure! ;) :cool:

Precisely.

Tech heads are not really what Apple is going for here, so the mini makes a lot of sense.
 
ill see when i see it in person in a few months time..

i might splash out and get the 15 gig :D
 
I love my iPod Mini!

I've got a blue one. My only gripe is that it sometimes locks up/crashes like any other computer. It has crashed on me 3 times in the last day.

Fortunately, it is easy to reboot.
 
macteens doesn't think too highly of it at all. dissappointed to see a negative review of it from a mac advocating site... but good at the same time to see an objective POV. more like it please... because then i won't get my hopes too high before a product launch...
